Washi Tape Scrapbooking

What You Need:

• Washi tape, 2 or more rolls
• Journal, unlined
• Acrylic gems, wooden letters (optional)
• Glue (optional)

What You Do:

1. Ask your child to name some types of patterns he could use to cover the blank journal. After he chooses one, ask him to pick out the tape he'd like to use.
2. Have him slowly roll out one line of tape at a time to create his pattern. When he reaches an edge of the book with the tape, tell him to leave a small amount of extra tape.
3. After the entire book is covered with the Washi tape, have him fold over the extra tape, so it looks clean around the edges.
4. If he likes, he can glue on a wooden initial, add acrylic gems, apply sequins, or incorporate any other decorative element he likes to personalize his scrapbook.
5. Filling the scrapbook can be a project that lasts for a long time. Every time he has a new photograph or scrap of paper that has memories attached to it, ask him to glue it into his book.  Alternatively, he can use it as a writing book and create a small daily diary out of his scrapbook.
