Valentine's Day Frog

What You Need:

• Construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• Spoon
• Pen

What You Do:

1. Have your child fold two pieces of green construction paper in half, width-wise.
2. Next, show your child how to draw half a heart on the crease of each of the pieces of paper.
3. Cut out the shapes from each piece, to create two hearts.
4. Squeeze some glue across the top of one heart and press the other heart on top, so they are stacked on top of each other.
5. Using the same technique for cutting the two large hearts, cut six mini hearts from the green paper and set them aside.
6. Have your child cut two 4"x1" strips, and two 6"x1.5" strips of green paper for the frog's legs.
7. Glue the short legs to the underside of the frog, near the point of the heart.
8. Then glue the long legs to the sides of the frog.
9. Have your child position the mini hearts on the end of the frog's legs and glue them into place. The large legs can each fit two hearts, while the small legs need only one each.
10. Show your child how to trace the handle of a spoon on pink construction paper, and cut it out for the tongue. This is great for practicing fine motor skills!
11. Glue the frog's tongue in between the two large green hearts.
12. Have your child cut out two ovals from the extra construction paper, and fold them in half lengthwise. This will give them a 3D effect.
13. Then, glue them to the top of the heart. Your child can even make the pupils out of little hearts, for a frog that's truly in love.
14. Lastly, bend the legs so the frog can sit upright, and bend the mouth of the frog open so you can see his tongue.
