Turkey Bag
Get ready for Thanksgiving Day leftovers with an adorable turkey lunch bag! This recycled craft is a great way to remind everyone how much fun they had on Thanksgiving. When it's fully assembled and packed with yummy food, this lunch sack is sure to get some big smiles from classmates and friends.
What You Need:
- Paper lunch bag
- Construction paper (yellow, red and orange)
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Stapler
What You Do:
- Have your child cut out two strips of orange construction paper roughly 1.5" x 11". Fold them back and forth (like an accordion) and then release the fold.
- Ask your child to fold a square of orange paper in half and draw a turkey foot. Cut through both halves of the paper to create the two feet. Staple one foot on an end of each accordion-folded strip of orange paper.
- Help your child staple the orange paper to the base of the paper bag to create the turkey's legs. The feet should dangle down.
- Fold a sheet of yellow paper in half. Ask your child to trace their hand.
- With the paper still folded, have them cut out the outline of their hand, creating two yellow hands to use as plumage for the turkey.
- Have your child draw the turkey's head on the red paper, and be sure to include the turkey's neck.
- Create a beak by folding a piece of paper in half twice and drawing ½ of a diamond shape. Ask your child to cut out the half diamond and unfold it to create a beak shape. Glue the beak to the center of the turkey's head.
- Glue two googly eyes on the turkey's face.
- Now it's time to assemble the bag! Start by filling the bag with food.
- Fold the top of the bag down and staple it shut.
- Ask your child to glue the turkey's neck to the top center of the side of the bag without the fold.
- To finish the turkey bag, have them glue or staple the hands on the back of the bag so they stick out like feathers.
