Grades:
Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- 3 different types of seasonal summer fruits of your choosing. Ideas include strawberries, peaches, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, or plums.
- Small waffle cone
- 3 small bowls
- 1 large bowl
- Measuring cup
- Tablespoon
- Knife
- Whipped topping
- Optional ingredients:
- For the base: One scoop of a healthy frozen dessert, such as frozen yogurt, sortbet, sherbet, or nice cream
- For the topping: coconut, granola, nuts, honey, edible flowers, fresh herbs
What You Do:
- Organize your fruits by type, placing each into its own bowl. You'll want to cut larger fruit into small pieces so that they'll fit into the waffle cone.
- Look at the measuring cup together with your child. Notice the scale markings at different heights that indicate quantities of 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4 cups.
- Have your child measure 1/2 cup of the first fruit, 1/3 cup of the second fruit, and 1/4 cup of the third fruit, adding each to the larger bowl. Gently stir to combine.
- Optional: Add one scoop of the healthy frozen dessert to the cone.
- Hold the small waffle cone while your child uses the tablespoon to carefully add the mixed fruit from the bowl.
- Optional: Garnish the cone with topping of your choice
Enjoy on a warm summer afternoon in your favorite outdoor spot!
