What You Need:
- Scissors
- White poster board
- Marker
- Knife
- Small Styrofoam ball
- Spring vocabulary list
- Yellow paint
- Green paint
- Paint brush
- Place mat
- Plastic craft stick
- Glue
What You Do:
- Place the Styrofoam ball and the craft stick on the place mat.
- Have your child paint the ball yellow and the craft stick green.
- Set aside both pieces to dry.
- Let your child paint half the poster board green.
- This next step is all you! Use a knife to make an indented line all around the Styrofoam ball.
- While you're working, let your child use scissors to cut out twenty large white petals from the unpainted poster board.
- Let them cut big green leaves out of the painted side of the poster board.
- Help them glue the leaves on the craft stick.
- Put one end of the craft stick into the Styrofoam ball.
- Have your child write one spring vocabulary word on ten of their white petals.
- Without them peeking, write ten random words on the remaining petals.
- Put all the petals in one pile.
- Let them put only the spring words in the Styrofoam ball.
- Ask them to define each word as they select it.
- Have your child keep going until the flower is complete.
