Snowflake Patterns
One of the most beautiful sights during the winter season are falling snowflakes. Each and every one of these little ice crystals is completely unique. It's pretty much impossible to find two that look identical. When snowflakes fall quickly, they can build up into large snow mounds, or drifts. Your child will create her own falling snowflakes using white paper and glue them over a tree, so it appears as if they are falling from the sky.

Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- White and brown construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Pencil
What You Do:
- Ask your child to draw a tree with several branches on the brown paper. Cut the tree out and adhere it to a sheet of white paper.
- Cut a sheet of white paper into 6 identically-shaped squares.
- Have her fold each of the sheets of paper in half repeatedly until each sheet has been folded 3 to 4 times.
- Have her use the pair of scissors to gingerly make small cuts in the paper, being careful not to completely cut any edges off of the folded paper as doing so will cause the snowflake to be cut in half! After she's happy with the small cuts she's made, have her slowly unfold her snowflake.
- Repeat this process until all of the snowflakes are crafted. Encourage her to experiment with her cuts so each snowflake will display a unique pattern.
- Encourage her to glue her snowflakes onto the tree to create a winter wonderland!
