Activity
How to Set a Table Diagram
With so many holidays and events to celebrate throughout the year, it's always good to have a little help. Teach your little one to learn how to properly set a table with this quick and simple activity. It's never too early to teach your kid the basics of hosting guests. Start out slow by showing your child the elements of a correct place setting and then create a placemat map! As your child becomes your new helper, they'll also gain confidence knowing people are benefiting from the newly acquired knowledge.

Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- Construction paper in 4 colors
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Black marker
What You Do:
- Ask your child to tape two pieces of construction paper together to create a horizontal placemat.
- Have your child draw and cut out a napkin on another sheet of construction paper. Your child can fold a paper napkin in half and trace it to get an accurate measurement.
- Grab a piece of paper of a different color and have him draw and cut out the plate. We traced a real plate!
- Help your child draw and cut out the cutlery using the fourth color of construction paper and make a circle to represent the glass. (We included a salad fork in our cutlery, but you should use whichever combination will be relevant for your next event.)
- Ask your child to name each of the elements of the place setting, then write the correct name on each element.
- Finally, have your child glue the place setting in the correct formation. Knives and spoons to the right of the plate, and the forks on the left.
- Keep this map somewhere close to the prep area of your kitchen to help remind your new helper how to set the perfect table.
