How to Set a Table Diagram

What You Need:

• Construction paper in 4 colors
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Black marker

What You Do:

1. Ask your child to tape two pieces of construction paper together to create a horizontal placemat.
2. Have your child draw and cut out a napkin on another sheet of construction paper. Your child can fold a paper napkin in half and trace it to get an accurate measurement.
3. Grab a piece of paper of a different color and have him draw and cut out the plate. We traced a real plate!
4. Help your child draw and cut out the cutlery using the fourth color of construction paper and make a circle to represent the glass. (We included a salad fork in our cutlery, but you should use whichever combination will be relevant for your next event.)
5. Ask your child to name each of the elements of the place setting, then write the correct name on each element.
6. Finally, have your child glue the place setting in the correct formation. Knives and spoons to the right of the plate, and the forks on the left. 
7. Keep this map somewhere close to the prep area of your kitchen to help remind your new helper how to set the perfect table.
