Activity
Scrambled Words
The more words you know, the better! Building a strong vocabulary will help your little one with not just reading and writing but also in all school subjects. With this fun game, they won't mind brushing up on words they knows and even acquiring new ones.
Grade:
Subjects:
Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- A sheet of white paper
- Marker
- Dictionary
What You Do:
- Ask your kid to use the market to divide the paper into six even squares.
- Take over duties and think up six terms (for example, pillow, television, table, shoe, kitchen, and plate). Look up the definition of each term in the dictionary.
- Then, with the marker, write one definition in each of the six boxes on the paper. DO NOT WRITE THE TERMS. The definitions will serve as hints.
- Then, below each definition, write a scrambled version of the word matching the definition. For example, if you were to use the word pillow, the square might look like this.
A cushion support for the head or other parts of the body, usually used while sleeping.
lwoipl
- When you're finished, pass the marker and paper to your child.
- To win the game, they must correctly figure out the scrambled word in each square.
