Sandwich Container

What You Need:

• 1-gallon empty plastic milk jug
• Permanent marker
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Thumbtack
• Velcro with adhesive backing

What You Do:

1. Have your child clean the empty gallon jug and allow to dry completely.
2. Have him take the permanent marker and mark the following lines around the sides of the jug: Semi-circles with the top of the curve toward the top of the jug. One side should be about 6-inches high and the other sides 3-inches high.
3. Instruct your child to cut along the curves with the scissors.
4. Help your child poke holes approximately 1 ¾ to 2 inches up from the bottom of the jug all the way around in a line. This will serve as a folding line.
5. Tell him to fold the short sides in along the punched lines.
6. Fold the longest side over to “close” the sandwich holder. If the flap is longer than the holder and wraps underneath, have him trim with the scissors so the edge of the flap rests along the side of the sandwich holder.
7. Have him take a Velcro dot or square and remove one side of tape to reveal the adhesive. Place adhesive side down on the inside top of the longest flap.
8. Tell your child to remove the tape on the side now facing out to reveal the sticky side of the tape. Have him fold the flap over so it rests against the side snugly and press firmly into place.
9. Allow to sit for 15 or 20 minutes to ensure the adhesive holds.
10. Enjoy your frugal and green sandwich container.
