Scrap Art

What You Need:

• White 11” x 17” card stock
• Colored construction paper
• Glue
• Scissors
• Watercolor paint
• Brush
• Scraps of plastic, paper and wrappers
• Black marker
• Paper towel

What You Do:

1. Have your child place the paper horizontally and brush water over the top three-fourths of the card stock.
2. Now your child can brush on some watered down blue paint for the sky. If it appears too thick on the paper, blot the wet paint with a paper towel.
3. Brush water on the bottom fourth of the card stock. Mix together watered down blue and dark brown watercolor and paint it on that spot to create the pavement. Allow to dry.
4. Draw and cut out the shapes for the truck cab on the construction paper. Paint the parts, or simply glue them directly onto the street.
5. Cut out the bed of the truck, making sure to leave room for the wheels. Glue it in place.
6. Have your child glue down all of the scraps he wants, creating a mound in the back of the pick up truck. Multiple layers will create various textures and colors. Allow the glue to dry.
7. Now your child can use a black marker to draw in the details of the truck, including a driver in the window.
