Jack-o'-Lantern Candy Bucket

What You Need:

• Construction paper, orange and yellow
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Ruler
• Tempera paint
• Brushes
• White glue, or low-temp glue gun (with parental supervision)

What You Do:

1. Ask your child to stack two sheets of orange paper and draw an outline of a giant pumpkin on the top sheet, including the stem.
2. Have him cut out the pumpkin drawing along the lines, through both sheets of paper. Make sure the second sheet of paper doesn't slip, or you may end up with an especially odd-looking pumpkin!
3. Encourage him to paint a Jack-o'-Lantern face on the front of the top pumpkin. Set it aside to dry.
4. Using a fresh sheet of paper, measure and cut out two strips of paper, both 2" x 11.5".
5. Have him paint stripes, or a design of his choice on one of the strips of paper and set it aside to dry completely.
6. Ask him to fold the ends of the unpainted strip of paper toward the center, to create a "U" shape. Unfold so the two "arms" so they are sticking up. Carefully glue the back of the painted pumpkin to the edge of the "U" shape. It should be self-standing now.
7. Glue the other pumpkin shape to the remaining side of the "U" shape. Make sure that both pumpkins are facing the same way. The base of your bag is now complete!
8. Have him glue the decorated strip of paper to the inside of the "U" shape to create a handle. Cut off any excess paper.
9. Have your little goblin fill his jack-'o-lantern bucket with anything he likes!
