Pumpkin Mask

What You Need:

  • Orange construction paper
  • Black marker
  • Green paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Elastic cord

What You Do:

  1. Help your child draw and cut out half of a pumpkin shape on the orange paper.
  2. Ask your child to point out where they would position the eyes and nose on the jack-o'-lantern.
  3. Have your child draw two upright triangles for the eyes and one upside-down triangle for the nose.
  4. Help poke a tiny hole in one of the eyes and have your child cut along the line to cut out the triangle. Repeat for all three triangles.
  5. Ask your child to outline the three triangles and then draw curved lines for the pumpkin ridges.
  6. Have your child paint the stem of the mask green.
  7. Help your child punch one hole on each side of the mask.
  8. Encourage your child to tie the cord through both holes so that the band fits comfortably over their head.

This mask is especially great because it won't cover your child's entire face. Not only will your child be able to see out easily, you will be able to see them, making it easier to keep track of their whereabouts!
