Pom-Pom Garland
This homemade pom-pom garland requires very few materials and instantly brightens up a room with Easter-themed pastels. Your child will hone her fine motor skills and learn about colors and patterns while making this decoration. When it’s done, you’ll have a fuzzy, lightweight decoration to string across the wall, or use as a boa for pretend play!
What You Need:
- Pastel pom poms
- Thread in white or clear
- Blunt needle
- Scissors
What You Do:
- Cut a long length of thread, and help your child thread the needle.
- Have your child lay the pom-poms in a pattern she likes. This is a great time to teach patterns with letters, by assigning a letter of the alphabet to each color. She can then see which order she likes, such as “ABCABC…” or “AABBCC…”
- Show your child how to thread the needle through the middle of the pom-poms.
- Once she has a long garland made, she can tie off the end with a knot, and hang it up horizontally or vertically!
