Patriotic Flag Banner

What You Need:

• Construction paper (red, white, blue)
• Hole punch
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Ruler
• String
• Black marker
• Clear tape

What You Do:

1. Have your child fold several sheets of construction paper in half. Using a ruler, help him to draw a "V" shape on the long side of the construction paper to create bunting flags. The tip of the "V" shape should be on the folded end. When he cuts along the lines, he'll end up with two flags.
2. Repeat this process with each color of construction paper until he has enough flags for a whole banner.
3. Help him hole punch each flag on the wide end, in the center. The points of the flags should be facing down.
4. String the flags and tape them from behind so they stay in place.
5. Using a black marker, encourage him to write one descriptive word on each flag that represents veterans. Some words may include: heroic, brave, patriotic and courageous.
6. Help him to hang the banner and proudly display it in honor of our U.S. Armed Forces on Veterans Day or Memorial Day!
