Patriotic Centerpieces

What You Need:

  • Recycled paper tubes
  • Construction paper (blue, red)
  • Aluminum foil
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Tape

What You Do:

  1. Have your child wrap the paper tubes with aluminum foil and glue the edges in place.
  2. Ask your child to cut out thin strips of red and blue paper to resemble ribbon and streamers. They can roll the strips over a pencil to give them some curl.
  3. Adhere the ends of the streamers in the paper tube with tape so they fall over the edges of the paper tubes.
  4. Have your child cut out fireworks (kind of like a flower with many thin petals), or stars from the construction paper. Adhere one end to a popsicle stick and glue the popsicle stick to the inside of the paper tube. If the tube is off balance, add more cut-outs to the opposite side of the tube so that it's bursting with celebration!
  5. Set your completed centerpieces in the middle of the table to bring joy to your next Fourth of July or other national holiday celebration.
