Mini Easter Baskets
Easter will be here before you know it, and that means a big Sunday dinner. Instead of pulling out the usual Easter decorations, teach your child how to transform cupcake liners into mini Easter baskets. These pretty little baskets are sure to add plenty of springtime cheer to your Easter festivities.
What You Need:
- 2 pastel-colored muffin liners
- White construction paper
- Green construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Candy
What You Do:
- Using the scissors, have you child cut a 3" x 1" rectangle out of the white construction paper.
- Then, have her fold the sheet of green construction paper in half horizontally.
- Next, on the side where the two edges of the folded paper meet, using the scissors, ask her to cut a series of slices. They should be spaced about a quarter of an inch apart and should go all the way across the edges of the paper.
- Then, still using the scissors, ask your child to cut a single horizontal slice across the top of all the cuts she made in step 3. The little pieces of cut paper that fall down will be the Easter grass.
- Place the pastel muffin liner on a flat surface.
- Then, have her squeeze a dot of glue onto each end of the same side of the white rectangle.
- Your child should press and hold the ends of the rectangle to the inside of the muffin liner to create a little handle over the top. Allow the glue to dry completely.
- Have your child put the Easter grass in the basket.
- Finally, your child can add a little candy to the basket.
If she wants, your child make a whole bunch of these mini baskets. The baskets could also be used as place markers; just write the names of your dinner guests on the basket handles.
