Make Your Own Passport

What You Need:

• Construction paper
• Printer paper
• Stapler
• Crayons or markers
• Pencil
• Stickers to use as stamps – the can be as simple as stars or smiley faces

What You Do:

1. Have a family meeting. What does everyone want to do this summer? Whether you are going on a trip or doing things around town, brainstorm a variety of activities including both fair and foul weather fun. Add some events and trips to your calendar, and it is time to make the passports!
2. Each child will need 1 sheet of construction paper and several sheets of printer paper. Fold them all in half (hamburger style) slipping the printer paper into the construction paper to make a 8 ½ x 5 ½ booklet. Help them staple it all together.
3. The first page of the passport is for your son’s identifying information. At the top of the page he should draw a self-portrait – serious or silly. Beneath that, have him write his name, height, eye and hair color, birthplace and current address (city and state only).
4. Now label a page for each of the planned activities.
5. After each activity, have your son write what he enjoyed most. Did something surprise him? What was different from what he expected? Let him add ticket stubs, photos and more. When this is done, stamp the page by adding a sticker at the top.

These passports are a fun way for your children to remember various activities in their lives and can be made for a wedding road trip or a cousin’s graduation.
