Activity

Preschool Sorting

What You Need:

  • Yarn cut to about 12 inches
  • Scissors
  • Paper
  • Glue

What You Do:

  1. Give your child a piece of yarn, scissors, glue and paper.
  2. Encourage him to cut the yarn into smaller pieces of varying sizes and arrange them from shortest to longest on his paper.
  3. When he is satisfied with its order, check it over. If any corrections need to be made, sit with your child and explain what needs to be changed about his order
  4. Lastly, ask your child to glue the pieces of yarn onto the paper.

Keep this activity as a refresher for your child when he needs to see a physical example of length and order.
