Activity
Learn about Community Helpers
It's always important to encourage your youngster to recognize all the people whose efforts benefit the community. In this activity, your kid will create a chart of job titles, which will help them to recognize the people who make a contribution to others through their hard work day in and day out.

Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- Construction paper
- Pencil
- Markers
- Paper
- Ruler
What You Do:
- On a sheet of paper, help your child make a list of the people they come in contact with during one weekday. Walk them through the day, step-by-step. Perhaps there is a police officer that helps them across a crosswalk to the bus, and a bus driver who drives them to school where their teacher will help them learn valuable skills. List each worker in order and have your child explain what they do.
- Encourage your child to write their name in the center of a sheet of construction paper.
- Using their name as the center point, help your child draw lines extending outward, one for each worker that's on the list.
- Then help them write a different occupation from the list at the end of each ray using a pencil.
- Have them use markers to trace over the words. They can also decorate the page by drawing tools next to each occupation or using descriptive words to tell more about the person's role in the community.
This activity is great to do with your child at any time as they learn about the world around them!
