Inequality Game
Is your kid tired of the standard, run-of-the-mill flash card drills? Check out this inequalities math card game that's a fun riff on the well known and kid-friendly card game of War. Although it still involves a series of number battles, instead of relying on luck, your child will have to lean on their number knowledge. Once play begins they'll have to identify each of their cards as greater than, less than, or equal to the cards played by their adversary, and shout it out before their opponent makes the same assessment based on their own card! This competitive card game is a great way to help your child understand the connection between numerals and the values they represent.

Thank you for your input.
What You Need:
- 30 blank cards
- Black Pen
- Markers
- 2 players
What You Do:
- Players should begin by decorating the cards. Have them write and draw different representations of the numbers 1–15 on both sides of the blank cards. Make sure that no one card has the same number or representational style—numeral, dots, pictures, tally marks etc.—on both sides.
- Mix the cards up so that numerals, dots, and pictoral representations of the numbers are paired up in faceoffs in a completely random fashion.
- Divide the cards up evenly and have the players place their cards in piles.
- Players chant "Greater, less, go!" and on "Go!" they flip over the bottom cards of their respective piles and place them on the table.
- Whoever is the first one to correctly identify their card as being "greater than," "less than," or "equal to" by calling out "greater," "less," or "equal" depending on the card value, gets to keep both of the cards.
- Play continues until one player has accumulated all of the cards.
