Inequality Game

What You Need:

  • 30 blank cards
  • Black Pen
  • Markers
  • 2 players

What You Do:

  1. Players should begin by decorating the cards. Have them write and draw different representations of the numbers 1–15 on both sides of the blank cards. Make sure that no one card has the same number or representational style—numeral, dots, pictures, tally marks etc.—on both sides.
  2. Mix the cards up so that numerals, dots, and pictoral representations of the numbers are paired up in faceoffs in a completely random fashion.
  3. Divide the cards up evenly and have the players place their cards in piles.
  4. Players chant "Greater, less, go!" and on "Go!" they flip over the bottom cards of their respective piles and place them on the table.
  5. Whoever is the first one to correctly identify their card as being "greater than," "less than," or "equal to" by calling out "greater," "less," or "equal" depending on the card value, gets to keep both of the cards.
  6. Play continues until one player has accumulated all of the cards.
