Haunted Castle

What You Need:

  • Clean, empty and dry milk cartons (1, or 2)
  • Cardboard tubes
  • Tempera paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • Scissors
  • Glue, or low-heat glue gun with parental supervision

What You Do:

  1. Arrange the cartons and cardboard tubes into the shape of a haunted castle. You may need to cut the tops of the cardboard tubes so they resemble turrets, or flanking towers.
  2. Paint a base coat over the entire house. Let dry.
  3. Paint the windows and a door on the castle to resemble a face. What kind of expression do you want your castle to have? How can you embellish the windows and doors to make them more expressive?
  4. Consider what your castle might be made of, like stones, planks, or bricks. Paint this motif as a pattern.
  5. Consider who or what might be lurking about the castle, like skeletons, cobwebs, monsters, or ghosts. Paint these around the structure, or position them in the doors and windows!
  6. Glue all the pieces together to complete your personified haunted castle.
