Felt Play Food: Ravioli

What You Need:

• Beige or white felt
• Matching embroidery floss and needle
• Batting or cotton balls
• Pinking shears (optional)

What You Do:

1. First, have him cut out 2-to-3-inch squares of beige felt; two squares for each ravioli. If he likes, he can use pinking shears or zigzag craft scissors to cut them out: this will give them the appearance of a crimped edge, just like real ravioli have!
2. Leaving about a half inch around the edges, have him sew three sides of the square shut (if you have a sewing machine, this step can be finished quickly, and will also provide a great way to start teaching machine skills). He can then stuff the inside with batting or a cotton ball to “fill” the ravioli. Sew the last side shut and repeat.
3. If he likes, he can cut out a cloud-shaped piece of red felt to make “sauce.”
4. When he’s done, he can give them to a younger sibling for playtime!
