Easter Bunny Basket
Looking for a way to reuse those paper coffee cups that keep piling up? Transform them into adorable bunny baskets perfect for holding small gifts and sweet Easter treats. Don't worry if the cup has a logo or pattern on it, that only adds to the charm! This is a great activity for little kids—all that cutting and gluing helps strengthen little hand muscles for improved fine motor skills.
What You Need:
- Large disposable paper cup (coffee cups work well)
- 2 pipe cleaners in the same color as your cup
- 2 wiggly eyes
- Glue
- Pink felt or construction paper
- Black marker
- Pencil
- Scissors
- 1 cotton ball
What You Do:
- Help your child trace a line around the cup about 2 inches above the bottom edge with the pencil. The area under this line will be the base of the basket.
- Ask your child to draw a large circle from the bottom to about halfway up the cup. This will be the bunny’s face.
- Have her draw two big bunny ears just above the bunny's face, stretching them all the way to the top of the cup.
- Now help your child cut out her bunny along the pencil lines. Make sure to keep the bunny face and base of the basket attached.
- Once her bunny basket is cut out, have your child give the bunny a face. Glue on the wiggly eyes, a triangle piece of felt or construction paper for a nose, and a few short pipe cleaner segments for whiskers. Use the black marker to draw a little mouth.
- Now turn the bunny around and glue the cotton ball to his back for a tail.
- Turn the bunny back around so his face is toward you. Carefully poke a small hole on either side of the basket's base with scissors, a sharp pencil, or a hole punch.
- To give your basket a handle, thread the pipe cleaner through the holes and pinch the tips together to secure.
Fill your bunny basket with shredded green paper and candies and give it to a friend for Easter or keep it for yourself as a special treat!
