Activity
Pick Up
Help your child practice mathematical reasoning skills with this two-player card game. This game is similar to a competitive puzzle, where players will exercise critical thinking and logic to figure out all of their opponent's possible moves. Get ready to strategize and have a blast!
What You Need:
- Deck of playing cards
- Two players
What You Do:
- Ask one of the players to remove one entire suit from ace through king.
- Have them lay the cards face up in order, in a row. The ace will be the first card and the jack will be the last.
- Each player takes a turn removing one or two cards each turn. Cards need to be removed in ascending order only. For example, the first player can choose the ace, the second player might then take the 2 and 3, and then the first player could take the 4 and 5, and so on.
- The player who ends up taking the last card wins!
Variation: To make the game more challenging, play with all four suits lined up at the same time.
