Rain Boot Planters

What You Need:

• A pair of rain boots
• A nail
• Potting soil
• Flower or herb seeds (parsley is fail proof!)

What You Do:

1. Use the nail to poke a few holes in the bottom of each boot. You only need enough to let excess water drain out.
2. Help your child fill each boot ¾ full with potting soil.
3. Show your child how to sprinkle in seeds and cover with more soil according to the directions on the seed packet. Different varieties may require more or less coverage.
4. Water lightly and place outside in a sunny spot. Because of the holes in the bottom, some water may leak out, so place on a tray if you’re worried about the spot getting wet.
5. As time passes, water according to package directions. In a few weeks, you should have blooming galoshes—a green reminder of spring showers that will last all summer long!
