Passover Decorations
Passover doesn’t usually get the same decorating attention as Hannukah. Between the seder plate and the Hagaddahs, the table is usually pretty full. But don't let that stop you from making a special Passover-themed vase with your child. Not only will it showcase spring’s freshest flowers and give you one more opportunity to talk about eating unleavened bread, it will give your child an opportunity to be part of this unique holiday.
What You Need:
- 4 sheets of matzoh
- Glue
- Duct tape
- Short vase, such as a round florist’s vase
- Flowers
- Water
What You Do:
- Lay all four sheets of matzoh on a table and set two aside. Line the vertical edges of the two remaining sheets with glue.
- You’ll need two people to assemble the matzoh. Pick up one glued piece and one dry piece, and press the glued edge of one against the dried edge of the other. Balance those upright with your hand while adding the other dry and glued pieces in the same manner. All four pieces should now be attached with wet glue and standing upright in a cube with no top and no bottom.
- Now line the inside of the cube with duct tape. Don't worry—it won’t show when the flower arrangement is completed. Let the glue dry overnight.
- Fill the vase with water and a flower arrangement tall enough to show over the top of the matzoh cube.
- Set the cube on your table. Carefully lower the vase into the center of the cube so the flowers appear to emerge from a matzoh vase.
